becoming a fan isn't the same as liking!
Wednesday, 21 April 2010

i had been rather intent on abandoning my blog for good but this gave me inspiration to start writing again.

facebook did some minor rephrasing in the news feed. since i'm such an avid facebook stalker (voyeurism isn't a crime), i noticed it immediately of course. haha.

"___ is now a fan of ___" has turned into "___ likes ___", in case you haven't noticed.

it sounds correct on the first look, but what if it's for a page like this:

to the creators of this page, please pardon me for using this as an example.

to satiate your curiosity, you can see the page here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Teenager-committed-SUICIDE-because-of-THIS-status-update-Leaked-from-2008/114138315276253?v=app_4949752878&ref=nf

back to the point. this screen grab was taken straight off my news feed. it sounds as if you like the fact that a teenager committed suicide! i find it... disturbing. fine, it probably won't change anyone's objective in joining that particular page, but still, it doesn't sound right.

after typing all this, i realised that this post is pretty pointless. LOL. but in any case, give me back the "become fan" button any day, and i hope it isn't too greedy of me to ask for a "dislike" button in its place. hey facebook, you heard that?
