siloso beach sexcapade (a different perspective)
Tuesday, 12 January 2010

the title of this post has probably grabbed everyone's attention.

yup, i'm referring to the harrassment incident at siloso beach's countdown party. since it's probably the hottest debate topic online now, i feel inspired to give my two cents' worth too. AIYA, IN OTHER WORDS, I AM JUST TOO PISSED BY THIS TO STAY QUIET.

i guess this case needs no introduction because it's just too famous.

even facebook got involved in the fiasco.

there's another facebook group named "she deserved to be molested at siloso beach" but it has since been taken down.

i'm not here to slam the 4 perverts, and i'm not here to accuse the woman of triggering the incident because she was dressed provocatively.

seriously, the people who deserve to be jailed/beaten up/raped/(whatever punishment they bestowed on the stars of the sexcapade) are the netizens. here's why.

facebook users, rest assured that i have painstakingly covered your names and profile pictures so that you people can maintain anonymity. on a personal level, these people should be publicly shamed.

these comments have been grabbed from the facebook group "she did not deserve to be molested at siloso beach".

the comments i posted here are just the tip of the iceberg.

singapore prides itself as a cosmopolitan city. and we do all those racial harmony stuff in school and this is the result of 10 (in fact most of us have more) years of national education. SO MUCH FOR WORLD CLASS SINGAPOREAN EDUCATION.

the issue goes all the way back to racial stereotyping again. why is everyone so bloody sure that the 4 guys are bangladeshis?

it's true that no one would condone the actions of the guys, but why target their race/nationalities in the heated debate? for all you know, they may not be bangladeshi or indian after all. but does it make any difference? they outraged a person's modesty and it has absolutely nothing to do with race. it makes me wonder if people are genuinely concerned with the issue or they are just finding an excuse to insult a particular race.

all students in singapore would have learnt about the horrors of cultural genocide in history or GP lessons. and then we would be told to count our blessings that we are living in a racially harmonious country. take off your rose-tinted glasses and look carefully lah. singaporeans are very much racist ok.

the next thing which got my goat: all the heated discussion on the "victim's" gender.

rumours are rife that the woman is a transsexual. SO?

i think the guy who posted this is from dunman because his most of his mutual friends are my secondary school friends. what a disgrace to my alma mater. zzz.

what's with all those sweeping statements involving transsexuals? it's true that the stigma attached to transsexuals hasn't gone away even in our open minded society, but what's with victimising the entire transsexual community?

remember there was a guy who was arrested in austria for confining his daughter to a cellar for 20 years and fathering her children? that guy's comments are almost along the lines of saying something like "why bother about guys? they just want to fuck their daughters."

so, is it still fair to claim that all transsexuals just want to hook up guys? if i were a transsexual i wouldn't have touched that guy with a ten foot pole. so what if he's a guy, not worth grinding/humping lah. zzz.

hello singaporeans, please wake up your ideas and watch your words. we still have a really long way in working towards a gracious society.
